With a history that goes back three generations, Rachuba’s story begins in the early 1950s when Ralph DeChiaro moved from Long Island to Baltimore to build his real estate company from the ground up. After years of tireless work—which included land development for thousands of homes, offices, apartment complexes, and shopping centers across the region—Ralph extended an offer in 1970 to his son-in-law, Larry Rachuba, to join the business.
The now multi-generational family business expanded to begin offering custom building, developing, and property management, with Larry continuing his real estate career as owner of Rachuba Enterprises. As the Rachuba family continued to grow, Larry’s sons—Chris Rachuba and Ray Rachuba—joined the team as soon as they were old enough to work, and their sister, Theresa Rachuba Leatherbury, came on board in 2005.
With the siblings now sharing ownership, Theresa serves as President and CEO of Rachuba, and her responsibilities include client relationship management and property management. As Vice President, Ray ensures all family-owned properties are operating at the highest quality expected of a Rachuba community. Before his passing in October 2021, Chris oversaw all construction projects for the company as Construction Manager. Together, they’ve kept the company’s mission alive: to Build Value and Create Experiences for clients, staff, and the community.
